Upbeat (Grades K-2)

Grades K-2
UPBEAT is a fun and welcoming class for singers in Kindergarten through 2nd grade, where children are introduced to the joy of group singing in a playful and supportive environment. In UPBEAT, children develop confidence and musical skills through games, stories, and movement. Our energetic teachers lead students in fun activities that help them learn to match pitch, sing tunefully, and enjoy the process of making music together.

This class is designed to build a strong musical foundation, allowing children to explore music in a way that’s fun, joyful, and age-appropriate.

 "Upbeat" is for singers who are ready to…
  • ‍Try their best and have fun learning and singing!
  • Use kind words and actions—we are a team and support each other!
  • Listen and follow directions from the teacher during instruction.
  • Participate independently for a 45-minute rehearsal with other children and one teacher.
  • Use the bathroom on their own without assistance. (Please try to go before rehearsal begins!)

  • Engaging and age-appropriate instruction

Amplify (Grades 3-4)

Grades 3-4
Singers in AMPLIFY are welcomed into an energized and spirited classroom environment. In AMPLIFY, students explore the joy of singing together, learning to harmonize, and improving their ability to read music, listen carefully, and sing in parts. Through fun activities and group collaboration, we focus on building foundational music skills such as ear training, music literacy, and vocal technique.

This class provides a positive, energetic environment where every child’s voice is heard, and the emphasis is on teamwork, musical growth, and having fun.

“Amplify” is for students who are ready to…
  • Enjoy learning and singing in a group!
  • Have a positive attitude — we are a team and support each other!
  • Listen and follow directions from the teacher during instruction.
  • Be responsible for their materials and sheet music during rehearsals.
  • Participate independently for a 60- or 75-minute rehearsal with other children and one teacher.
  • Use the bathroom on their own without assistance. (Please try to go before rehearsal begins!)

Dynamic (Grades 7-12)

Grades 7-12
DYNAMIC is a vibrant choral ensemble for singers in grades 7–12 who are ready to learn, grow, and build their musical skills in a positive, team-centered environment.

In DYNAMIC, singers work on vocal technique, part-singing, ear training, and music literacy, gaining the tools they need to become confident, capable musicians. Students also strengthen important social and personal skills — learning how to collaborate, lead, and contribute to a strong ensemble community.

Rehearsals focus on building strong musicians and a strong community, where teamwork, growth, and positive energy are at the heart of everything we do. No outside practice is required — all skills are taught and reinforced during our fun, focused rehearsals each week.

Dynamic is for students who are ready to:
  • Strengthen their vocal technique, musical literacy, and part-singing skills.
  • Approach rehearsal with curiosity, focus, and a willingness to try new things
  •  Learn rehearsal expectations and take responsibility for their materials and behavior
  • Build the focus and stamina needed for longer rehearsal blocks
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive, and collaborative ensemble environment

Resonate (Grades 9-12)

Grades 9-12
RESONATE is an advanced choral ensemble for singers in grades 9–12 who are registered for Dynamic and are ready to meet the highest musical and personal expectations. Singers in RESONATE are expected to demonstrate a strong individual work ethic, a growth mindset, and a serious commitment to mastering music literacy, ear training, and vocal technique. Rehearsals move quickly, and singers are responsible for keeping pace with challenging repertoire through consistent home practice and active engagement in every rehearsal.

RESONATE demands a focused, disciplined approach to learning, a high level of personal accountability, and a willingness to push beyond comfort zones. In return, singers gain access to exceptional opportunities for additional performances, workshops, and travel experiences that reward their hard work.

‍RESONATE is for students who are ready to:
  • Take ownership of their musical growth with discipline and determination
  • Meet high expectations with energy, resilience, and pride
  • Prioritize attendance and make up any missed rehearsals without prompting (Resonate members may have up to 3 absences per semester. An absence is defined as missing more than 15 minutes (20% of rehearsal).
  • Practice consistently and independently at home and outside of rehearsal
  • Sustain focus, stamina, and positive leadership throughout both Dynamic & Resonate rehearsals (three hours total with a 15 minute break)
  • Contribute to a culture of teamwork, and joyful, serious music-making

‍Singers in RESONATE must also participate in DYNAMIC. RESONATE meets at SSCC's Quincy, Bridgewater, and Foxborough locations.‍

‍Resonate is a FULL YEAR ensemble, there is no spring registration. Students who participate must commit for the whole year.
